REMINDER: Season Two of 'Class of the Titans' to Air TODAY.

Unfortunately, we at the newsblog are still really slow to get started up again on account of too much real-life stuff still going on -- and we do understand that we've got a HUGE backlog right now -- but here's a quick post to show we're still alive and to mark what must be the BIGGEST 'Class of the Titans' event since the premiere.

As noted by digital producer Sandra at Brad's Corner, the first episode of Season Two (not counting the special preview last month) will be aired today -- Sunday September 9, 2007 -- at 9:00AM and 3:30PM on the English version of Teletoon, and at 9:30AM on the French counterpart.

We hope everyone enjoys the episode we've all waited so long for! And we the newsblog will try to keep up better from now on, though please note that over the last while, we'll be posting about a lot of older material -- we'll clearly mark these posts with BACKLOG in the title. Thanks!

SITE: We REALLY Are Still Here!

Hello all.

Sorry for another one of these messages again, but yes, we really are still here! I'm still trying to decide on how to catch-up and what to do with the newsblog right now, not to mention that I'm still swamped with things like work, graduate school research, etc. (England, by the way, was very lovely -- great classes and professors, lots of fun field trips to London and Roman-occupied sites, world-class opera, etc.)

So yes, we're not dead! At the very worst, we'll be back by the time Season Two premieres, which is shockingly next month, last I checked! Thanks for your patience.

SITE: We're Still Here.

Hey guys.

This is just a really quick post for now, but this is just to let everyone know that I'm back from studying abroad in England now. The newsblog will continue, and I am well aware that there have been some major developments and changes on the show lately, but it will take awhile for things to become organized and caught-up again. SITE: Semi-Hiatus Now a Full Hiatus.

At the beginning of May, I announced that I would be taking a sort-of hiatus on account of a study abroad program that I am currently doing in England. By now, I've been at the International Study Centre for a week and I can definitely say that with the amount of work I have right now, I'm afraid that the newsblog will be going on a full hiatus, with no new updates for the next few weeks.

We're NOT closing, for the record, and the essay contest if still happening, with submissions being due on May 31, 2007. I also understand that there have been a number of new entries at the the director's blog that haven't been recorded here yet, and I will do so later in a recap post when I am less busy.

SITE: Exam Hiatus Ends and Another Begins.

For the last month or so, the newsblog was on a semi-hiatus on account of exams. That hiatus ended about a week ago, but another one is going to be starting this Thursday and running until mid-to-late June because I'll be studying abroad in England at Queen's University's International Study Centre at Herstmonceux Castle.

Updates will still occur, but probably not as regularly (ie. some things may be reported days after they were posted) as usual on account of classes and field studies. I don't know if the Season Two news summary will be updated during that time, but most likely not until I return to Canada. If the fansite finally gets legal approval from the studio while I'm away, then it will be launched when I come back. The essay contest is still on-going and I am still accepting submissions as per the rules. Prizes, however, won't be distributed until I get back and can purchase them.

Those are the current terms of the hiatus. If I have anything to add, I will do so as an edit to this entry. If you'd like to keep track of what I'm doing in England, you can do so here. If I'm lucky, one of my field studies will be to the British Museum and I can take photographs of the Parthenon marbles. See you around.

SITE: Season Two News Summary Finally Updated!

We said it was coming, and now it's here. The Season Two news summary has finally been updated with all of the new material that has been released since the last update back in mid-February!

So check it out for all sorts of Season Two goodness, and of course, there are massive spoilers everywhere. Also, please let us know if there are any errors (including spelling, grammar, and formatting) or if we omitted something we can fix it as soon as possible.

We're also thinking of putting together a shorter version of the new summary to go along with the main one. This shorter one would include just lists of new characters, locations, episode titles, etc. without the extra information like the mythology and source links. Basically, it would make looking for information quickly much easier. At this point, we're not sure when that would go up, as the editor is soon leaving to study in England for six weeks, but keep an eye out for it in the future.

Since it seems like there are a lot of new 'Class of the Titans' fans coming into the fandom lately (welcome!) and some questions and requests get re-posted often, we're introducing a new Greatest Hits feature where every once in awhile, we'll post links to old news that would interest fans new and old.

To start-off, we're re-posting links to our old Q&A with Director Brad Goodchild. In the past, fans would e-mail questions they had for the director through the newsblog editor, who would then filter them for repeats or overly trivial things, then finally pass on the good questions to Mr. Goodchild. Though we haven't done that for awhile, we actually do have some leftover material that was never posted, and we'll do so soon.

In the meantime, here are the links to all of the questions and answers that were posted in the past. These will also eventually all be archived on Age of Silicon when it finally opens. 1. What was the funniest thing and/or blooper that has happened while working on the show so far? ANSWER

2. Characters go through a lot of changes throughout production. For example, you previously mentioned that Odie was originally NOT African-Canadian, and that you made the change in order to have more diversity among the main heroes. What other major interesting changes did some of the other characters go through as they were being designed? ANSWER

3. There's a huge selection of heroes in Greek mythology. When creating the main characters, how did you select which seven heroes to have the kids be descended from (particularly the choice of Narcissus)? And why seven, no more no less? ANSWER

4. When coming up with the idea of New Olympia, was its design based off a real city like Athens, New York, or Vancouver, or was it just a random idea thrown together so that the gang would have somewhere to live? ANSWER

5. Each of the main seven characters has a specific look, personal style, personality, etc. What inspired the different designs, appearance, style, etc. (ie. general character design) for each of them (or a few select ones you want to talk more about)? ANSWER

6. The press release for the show mentions that the seven modern-day heroes are from all over the world. We know from the original series Bible that Atlanta is from the North-West Territories, Herry's from the Prairies, and Theresa was born into an English family, though she doesn't sound English. Where are the other heroes (Jay, Herry, Odie, and Neil) from? ANSWER

7. In an earlier question, you answered that Teletoon originally wanted three female heroes, but Studio B changed it to two. Who would the third girl be descended from, and what kind of character concept was Teletoon thinking of for her? ANSWER

8. How were the voice actors selected and casted for their parts? It seems like they were chosen before the initial character designs, so did they get a say on what they wanted their character to look or act like? ANSWER

9. Most fans have seen from the draft script of Episode 1.23: Cronus' Flying Circus that an episode's contents can change a lot from the draft script to the final episode. What's another episode (or episodes) that went through many changes, and what things changed? ANSWER

10. How difficult is it to fit each episode into the twenty-two minute timeframe? Does a lot of material end-up being cut-out so it'll fit? ANSWER

11. How much research does it take to find all the details you might use for the myths you put into the episodes? How do you even go around deciding what myth to use in the first place, and which research sources does the crew use? ANSWER

On Monday, I announced that the New Olympian Agora would be hosting its first contest to celebrate its first anniversary.

This entry covers the rules of the contest. Please read over them carefully and remember to check often to see if there are any additions. Failure to follow the rules will result in disqualification, though I will warn you first and give you a chance to fix it.

BASIC RULES

1. For potential legal reasons, you must be at least 13 years old to participate. Please do not attempt to lie about it.

2. Due to the nature of the prize, you and/or your parent/guardian (if you are underage) should be comfortable with privately e-mailing me your address if you win. If this doesn't work for you, but you still really want to enter the contest, let me know and we can work something out.

3. Plagiarism is frowned down upon VERY much here. Your essay must be your own original work and if you quote something or use other people's ideas, you must use proper citations, and I will run searches for this kind of thing.

4. Individual submissions only. No pair or group essays.

ESSAY GUIDELINES

1. The topic, as mentioned in the original announcement, is to take one of the seven main 'Class of the Titans' characters and argue why an alternative mythological ancestor would work, citing specific examples. Entries that try to cop-out of this by arguing why the character's current ancestor is perfect will be disqualified. The alternative ancestor MUST be an existing Greco-Roman mythological character.

2. The word limit is 500-750 words. There is a little bit of leeway beyond this range, but don't be ridiculous about it. Writing more is not necessarily better.

3. Spelling and grammar DO count. A proper essay tone is expected. Take the time to proofread. If English is not your first language, please make sure you let me know, though it's recommended that you get someone more familiar with the language to also proofread for you. Also, use proper paragraphs.

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS

Please send contest entries to age.of.silicon@gmail.com with 'Newsblog Essay Contest -- [NAME]' with your name or online username (whichever you want to be addressed as) where it says [NAME]. Attach the essay either in the body of the e-mail or as a link to where you've posted it online. The current deadline is May 31, 2007.

Rules are subject to change at any time, so please check back regularly to see if anything has since been modified. Judging criteria and perhaps a sample entry (comparing one of the characters to their current ancestor, so that I'm not potentially infringing on anyone's essay idea) to come in another post.

SITE: The First Newsblog Contest! With Prizes!

The first anniversary of the New Olympian Agora, the fan-run newsblog for 'Class of the Titans', is coming-up very soon on May 7, 2007. Since we're so excited, we thought we'd celebrate by making like Achilles in Book XXIII of the 'Iliad' and hosting a fabulous contest with fabulous prizes!

Since I'm in a rush right now, I'll elaborate on things like rules, submission guidelines, etc. in a later entry. Below is the basic information, though it's subject to change until I set the final rules.

What kind of fabulous contest is this? Will I have to wrestle Odysseus like Telamonian Ajax did?

The contest will be a test of your knowledge of the show AND Greco-Roman mythology. Basically, you will write a short (emphasis on short) 500-750 word (informal) essay where you will take one of the show's seven main characters, select an alternate mythological ancestor, and explain why your choice works.

By explain, I mean you should cite specific examples from both the show and mythology to support your argument -- for example, if you think Turnus (of Vergil's 'Aeneid') is a good alternative ancestor for Archie because they're both kind of angry sometimes, you have to write-down examples for both. If I have time after my exams, I will write a quick example comparing Jay and Aeneas.

What about the fabulous prizes? Tripods? Trojan slave-girls? Cows?

At the moment, I will award the winner of the contest -- judged on creativity, strength of argument, writing, etc. -- with his or her choice of a classical work. The choices right now include Homer's 'Iliad' or 'Odyssey', Apollonius' 'Argonautica', Vergil's 'Aeneid', and Ovid's 'Metamorphoses'. If the winner has a strong preference for something else, I will consider it. Runner-up prizes have not yet been decided at this point.

Depending on how many submissions I receive, there may be two prize categories -- one for fans whose mythology knowledge is fairly basic and one for fans who have a strong classics background and can quote the likes of Homer, Pindar, etc. That's just to be fair, not to insult anyone. But again, this depends on the number of contest entries and their quality.

That's all I have time to elaborate on for now. More information to come later, but if you're potentially interested (you don't have to know for sure yet), please leave a comment so I can get some idea of the numbers. Thank you.

'Class of the Titans' Nominated for an ACT 2007 Award of Excellence.

'Class of the Titans' has once again been nominated for another award! According to Broadcaster Magazine, the show received a nomination in the Animation 9-14 category for the 2007 Awards of Excellence, which honours Canadian English-language youth programs and is hosted by the Alliance for Children and Television (ACT).

ACT's official website also has more information about the awards, including press releases and ordering tickets to the gala. The award ceremony itself will take place on May 31, 2007 at 7:30PM ET/PT at the CBC's Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto, Ontario. No word yet on whether the presentation of the awards will be broadcast or not.

'Dream Weaver' Storyboard Sketches at 'HartWorks'.

And now for something different! Storyboard artist Lyn Hart has posted two fantastic rough storyboard sketches to her blog. The two images are from the Season Two episode titled Dream Weaver (more information here). According to Ms. Hart, the storyboard are for a scene that horizontally pans to reveal a battle scene with dead Titans, but that's all that's been revealed (in addition to the previous background key) for now.

We're still on hiatus at the moment, but we will definitely try to get the Season Two news summary (it has NOT been forgotten!) updated sometime between an exam on Roman history and a flight to England. Thanks for being (very) patient.

Despite the fact that we're technically on a hiatus, it seems like today's a busy day for 'Class of the Titans' news, at least in terms of of production art and crew blogs.

Storyboard artist Lyn Hart, who worked on storyboard revisions for Season One, also recently started her own blog and has already posted six sheets of storyboards from Episode 1.07: Antikythera Device. There are also other storyboards and character designs from other projects that are definitely worth checking-out.

Lead Character Designer (Season One) Kenny Park Now Has a Blog!

You've seen many of his character designs on director Brad Goodchild's blog and you may have caught his name in the show's closing credits -- lead character designer (Season One) and storyboard artist (Season Two) Kenny Park now has his own fantastic blog! There are only two entries up at this time, but they're both very much worth taking a look at.

The first entry has a piece of promotional artwork by Mr. Park that you may have seen on the director's blog several months ago (without the text), as well as some interesting and insightful personal comments about his experience with the show. There is also some possible news about a Season Three (or lack thereof, but keep in mind that there's been no official announcement yet).

The second entry features the uncoloured pencils for another unused promotional piece featuring many of the major villains -- both regular and guest stars -- from the show. A coloured version may appear on the blog sometime in the future.

We'll be adding a link to the blog in due time, though please keep in mind that we are still officially on hiatus right now, which includes the Season Two news summary that hasn't been updated for awhile (but WILL be eventually). For now, enjoy the new crew blog and the artwork!

Friday Surprise -- Just as we were about to post this entry, Mr. Goodchild posted yet another new entry! Yesterday, he noted an upcoming episode featuring a funny design of Neil as a baby in response to a piece of fanart, and just now, he posted two more character design sheets. The first one features Jay as a baby and at five and ten years old (with 'Jay getting younger' as the file's title), and the second is the aforementioned Neil as a baby. No story details have been revealed yet.

This is NOT a joke post, as it is NOT April 1.

Updates over the next month will either be very slow or not happening on account of the fact that I am writing final exams right now and my schedule is very crammed -- for example, I am not having very much fun right now memorizing details of a hundred or so classical and Hellenistic Greek sculptures, reliefs, temples, cities, etc., nor am I looking forward to re-reading Homer, Apollonius, Vergil, Horace, Ovid, etc. within three days immediately afterwards.

More regular updates will probably return in May, though I will be studying in England during May and June. For now, I return to memorizing every little detail of the Parthenon. Hooray.

Incidental Thursday and a 'Recipe for Disaster' Character Design at 'Brad's Corner'.

As an extra holiday treat, Mr. Goodchild also posted two night character designs (one hooded, one not) of Perithous, a new mythological character who will make an appearance in the Season Two episode titled Recipe for Disaster. For those in need of some background, Perithous is best known in mythology for trying to abduct Persephone to be his wife (along with his friend, Theseus, who had chosen Helen of Sparta), but Hades trapped him in a special chair.

Also, be sure to check-out the entry for some interesting comments by Mr. Goodchild on the homage the design pays to a character from a 1960's Hercules cartoon.

REMINDER: 'The Making of Class of the Titans' Special on CityTV Vancouver's 'Razor 696' Airing Tomorrow.

Last week, director Brad Goodchild's blog updates included some information and screenshots for a 'The Making of Class of the Titans' special for a CityTV Vancouver show called 'Razor 696' (official website here). As stated earlier, the special will be airing on Wednesday April 4, 2007 (tomorrow) at 11:00AM, according to CityTV Vancouver's schedule for that day -- Mr. Goodchild had originally announced a 10:00AM air-time, but that seems to have since changed.

A number of fans have been asking when the special will air if they're not in Vancouver. Unfortunately, we've researched every CityTV website and found that the Vancouver version of CityTV is the ONLY one that will be airing it. Therefore, you CANNOT watch the special if you do not have access to CityTV Vancouver. It is NOT being shown CityTV Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, and Winnipeg, unless we overlooked a crucial detail -- and if we did, please correct us and provide a source to back you up.

So, Vancouver fans, enjoy the special and get a neat look at the stuff that goes on behind-the-scenes at the studio!

Additional New Air-Times for 'Class of the Titans' on Teletoon.

The English version of Teletoon seems to have made some changes to its Season One re-run schedule much sooner than we had anticipated -- in addition to the weekends (Saturday and Sunday) at 2:00PM ET/PT timeslot that started on March 17, 2007, Teletoon's website states that as of Friday March 23, 2007, two more air-times have been added. You can now also watch re-runs on Fridays at 7:00PM ET/PT, as well as Sundays at 6:30PM ET/PT. At present, it looks like this schedule will, at the very least, continue until the end of April 2007.

To summarize, these are the following times you can now watch Season One re-runs of 'Class of the Titans' on the English version of the channel:

Since yesterday was April 1 -- April Fool's Day -- yesterday's entry about the newsblog being shutdown was, in fact, a hoax, which the 'newfound interest' for 'Troy' and 'Troy 2' probably should have given away. The newsblog is NOT shutting-down, the Season Two news summary WILL be updated (eventually), and the fansite will still eventually go ahead once I get the all-clear.

HOWEVER -- I was NOT joking about issues of fans stealing my newsblog logo (as well as other people's fanart) and other newsblog material without my permission and credit. And don't use 'it's the internet, I can steal whatever I want!' as an excuse -- be a decent and moral human being instead of a jerk by showing some respect in asking first. That, and just because something is posted on the internet doesn't mean that someone doesn't own the rights to it, and that includes things like fanart and websites.

So that said -- even though I'm NOT shutting the blog down, be warned that if the above keeps happening, I may very well be provoked into closing shop. And you'll know if it's a real announcement if it's not posted on April Fool's Day. Thank you.

SITE: Newsblog to Shut-Down Based on Declining Interest in 'Class of the Titans'.

Over the last while, we at the newsblog have noticed that there's been a decline in interest in 'Class of the Titans' over the last while -- whether it's a mass exodus from the TV.com forum or this week's FicWad post from a random fan on how she's leaving the site because of meanies or on account of being grounded, it seems like there's a big lull in enthusiasm right now.

As such, it only seems right that the newblog shut-down for the meantime, at least until Season Two begins to air in September 2007. What's the point of continuing a project that no one's going to bother looking at or commenting on? There's only so much time I have. I'm also getting a little bored of the show and am tired of seeing more and more fans ripping-off the newsblog logo as if it's free clipart for their Piczo sites.

That, and final exams are coming up and I've recently taken an interest in that 'Troy' film -- I think it's wonderful how Hollywood decided to adapt the Trojan Cycle with such accuracy and respect, and I hope there's a 'Troy 2' sequel soon, where Aeneas has to take the Sword of Troy to Italy and found the city of Rome.

So, thanks for the good times in the last year, and maybe if I'm interested again come Season Two, I'll start this newsblog up again.

REMINDER: 'See You at the Crossroads' Re-Airing on Teletoon Tomorrow.

As we had reported earlier this month, Episode 1.08: See You at the Crossroads, the 'Class of the Titans' Hallowe'en special, will be re-airing tomorrow on the English version of Teletoon. That's Saturday March 31, 2007 during the show's regular weekend timeslot that begins at 2:00PM ET/PT.

Incidental Thursday and 'The Making of Class of the Titans' Screencaps at 'Brad's Corner'.

It's that time of the week again for Incidental Thursday, and director Brad Goodchild has posted nine more background character designs to his blog. Check them out here and here.

On Wednesday, Mr. Goodchild also announced that on Friday, he would put up screencaps from a CityTV 'Razor 696' special called 'The Making of Class of the Titans', which features behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with cast and crew members. Instead, the screencaps have been posted today -- in order, you can view them here, here, here, here, and finally here. Please direct comments to the first entry that we've linked to.

According to the director, the special will air on Wednesday April 4, 2007 at 10:00AM. We're currently doing research on which versions of CityTV this applies to, so please keep an eye out for a entry in the near future with additional details.

Titan Wing Foyer Lineart and 'Breath Taking Beauty' Background Key at 'Brad's Corner'.

Starting with the non-spoiler -- director Brad Goodchild has posted an addition piece of lineart to his blog after being asked a question by fan Fire-Rose, so check-out the lineart for the Titan Wing Foyer.

The same entry also outlines what kinds of questions about the show you can and cannot ask Mr. Goodchild and why, as well as calls for where all of the American fans are coming from and more fanart submissions.

Mr. Goodchild has also posted a new Season Two background key painted by background colourist Michael Hitchcox from the episode titled Breath Taking Beauty (more information here). The image is of a road leading into a new location known as Gizaville, which is stuck in time and is the new home of the Sphinx.

The name is obviously a reference to Giza in Egypt, site of the Pyramids of Giza and the giant monument of the Great Sphinx. Please note, however, that the Egyptian and Greek versions of the monster are somewhat different despite the clever reference -- the Egyptian Sphinx has the head of a man and no wings, and its Greek counterpart (the most famous being the Theban Sphinx that Oedipus defeated) is half-woman and has wings.

Director Brad Goodchild has posted a special Background Tuesday feature for his blog this week -- instead of Season One material, there are ten full-colour background keys by background colourist Michael Hitchcox from the Season Two episode titled Nothing to Fear But Fear Itself, which is more commonly known as the werewolf episode.

All of the images, posted here and here, are of new locations, including a bouzouki (a type of musical instrument) kiosk in a Greek village, various levels of a parkade in New Olympia, and the interiors and exteriors of a Greek museum.

John Nevarez, a story artist in the animation industry and a friend of 'Class of the Titans' director Brad Goodchild, has once again featured the Canadian cartoon on his blog.

Included this time are four previously posted images from Mr. Goodchild's blog, including the background key of Cronus' penthouse, a black-and-white production shot of Persephone from Episode 1.08: See You at the Crossroads, the recent new screenshot from Pandemonium, and pencil sketches of an older Pan/Phil/DJ Panic design by Season One lead character designer Kenny Park.

Mr. Goodchild's blog was also featured last August and January (2006), the latter of which was how we at the newsblog first found out about the director's blog in the first place.

Director Brad Goodchild has posted a surprise image to his blog that should please most fans, particularly fans of Archie and Atlanta as a couple. Seen here is the first screencap (sort of) from Season Two, specifically the episode titled Pandemonium.

The screencap itself is from a particular stage of production in which the characters are not yet coloured (read the director's comments for more information on the technical details). It also features Archie and Pan squaring-off against each other while Atlanta attempts to intervene.

After Saturday's long-awaited Canadian premiere of Episode 1.18: Bows and Eros on the English version of Teletoon (website), a number of fans have noted concern about missing the episode and wonder as to when it will air again.

We recently contacted Teletoon audience relations co-ordinator Julie Benoit again to ask about future re-airings of the Valentine's Day special. At present, the answer is that Episode 1.18: Bows and Eros is NOT currently scheduled to re-air in the near future, at least not for the next few months. This does NOT mean it will never be shown again, so don't despair yet, though it does mean that it won't be part of the regular Season One re-run line-up.

We also asked another question about when the Hallowe'en special, Episode 1.08: See You at the Crossroads, which premiered on Teletoon in October 2006, would be shown again. The good news is that it will be re-aired on Saturday March 31, 2007 at 2:00PM ET/PT. There are currently no other scheduled re-airings of the episode after that date.

Director Brad Goodchild has posted this week's Background Tuesday images to this blog a whole day early. There are six full-colour background keys in total -- the skyscraper/penthouse exterior, interior, and underground lair ceiling can be seen here, while the lair's cage room, lounge, and Cronus' ancient stronghold are posted here.

REMINDER: 'Bows and Eros' Premieres and Season One Returns to Teletoon Tomorrow!

As we first reported all the way back in January along with a confirmation from one of the channel's audience relations co-ordinator, Episode 1.18: Bows and Eros will finally make its Canadian premiere on the English version of Teletoon. The Valentine's Day special will air tomorrow -- Saturday March 17, 2007 -- at 2:00PM ET/PT. No word yet on whether the episode will become part of the regular re-run cycle.

Tomorrow's premiere also marks the return of Season One re-runs to the channel. Starting tomorrow, old 'Class of the Titans' episodes will air on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) at 2:00PM ET/PT. Right now, according to the schedule on Teletoon's website, these air-times will probably last up until April 30, 2007 at the very least. We don't know what the schedule will be like after that, as it probably hasn't been set yet.

First, director Brad Goodchild has posted the second Incidental Thursdays feature to his blog. Seen here are five more background character designs of a pig-tailed girl, a guy with a hoodie and headphones, a teenage girl with hoop earrings, an athletic girl with a volleyball, and a guy with purple hair and a polo shirt.

Second, Mr. Goodchild has posted an extra entry with four images of character designs for Eros and Psyche as they appear in Episode 1.18: Bows and Eros, which will be premiering in Canada this Saturday (we'll post a reminder about it tomorrow). Check-out the entry itself for the director's comments on where the inspiration for the designs came from.

Third, happy Ides of March. Yes, it's more of a Roman historical reference to the assassination of Julius Caesar, but as the director pointed-out, it's classical all the same.

As the title suggests, Morpheus is the Greek god of dreams, as well as the son of Nyx (Night) and Sleep (Hypnos, whose cave appears in the new episode Forget Me Not, though we don't know if the show makes the connection or not).

As hinted at earlier, director Brad Goodchild has posted the first of the Background Tuesdays feature to his blog today in addition to yesterday's teaser.

The teaser contains the full-colour design for the Oracle's newstand, and the main feature itself has four Season One background keys by Season One background colourists Geoff Manson and Michael Hitchcox, the latter of whom is also the Season Two lead painter -- an aerial view of New Olympia's skyscrapers, the movie theatre, a dug-up road, and the rubble from the collapsed underground tunnels.

Teletoon's Website Adds Character Profiles to the 'Class of the Titans' Page.

Teletoon's has finally added information for each of the seven main characters on the website's 'Class of the Titans' page.

Each character's blurb is directly from the Original Series Bible (see more information here; you will have to check the July 2006 archives at the director's blog to find the actual pages) that was used to pitch the show -- that also means that some of the information on those profiles may no longer be true for the characters, so take the stuff with a grain of salt.

REMINDER: Télétoon's 'Classe des Titans' Schedule Changes on Sunday and Tuesday.

This is a brief reminder, based on the original announcement, for fans who watch the French version of Teletoon, Télétoon (website). This Sunday March 11, 2007 will be the LAST day that Season One of 'Classe des Titans' will air at its currently daily time of 7:30PM.

There will be no airing of the show on Monday, and beginning on Tuesday March 13, 2007, re-runs will return and be shown every Tuesday (and no other day of the week) from then on at 8:00PM.

The information above only applies to the French version of Teletoon. The English one runs on a different schedule, and tomorrow, we will post a reminder about the upcoming schedule changes for it.

As an end-of-the-week surprise, director Brad Goodchild has posted several new Season Two images to his blog. Check out the full-colour designs for the four Telkhines from the Season Two episode titled Cronus' Keystroke (more information here), as drawn by lead character designer Jeremy Tin based on Mr. Goodchild's ideas. In mythology, the Telkhines were a sort of dog-fish hybrid, which the show has acknowledged in their own unique versions.

The entry also has a reference to an image of the Telkhines' underwater lair. That was posted awhile ago, and if you missed it, it can be seen here.

Director Brad Goodchild posted the first of his blog's new Incidental Thursday feature today, beginning with five great background character designs done by Season One lead character designer Kenny Park.

In this first instalment, we have a boy in baggy winter clothes, a nerdy guy, the yellow-panted jogger who can often be seen walking in front of the Brownstone, the goth girl, and the girl with the blonde ponytail and green skirt.

In the same entry, Mr. Goodchild also notes that Incidental Thursdays will last for the next eight to ten weeks and that there may also be an accompanying Tuesday special feature, possibly of locations.

Teletoon's 'Class of the Titans' Page is Back Online.

Since 'Class of the Titans' went off-air in December 2006, Teletoon removed the link to the show's page on their website's show listings, though the page itself remained accessible via a very roundabout way. A quick check today, however, revealed that the show is once again listed under the listings if you click on TV on the menu.

The page has also been updated slightly along with the site's overall new layout. The new air-times of weekends at 2:00PM (beginning on March 17, 2007) is noted. Unfortunately, each characters' individual trailers, the opening theme, and the clip from Episode 1.04: Man's Worst Enemy have been removed. Under Extras, only links to the maze and chess games remain. The characters' portraits also have a new background.

Director Brad Goodchild has posted even more of the chess-themed character designs from the Season Two episode titled The Game Plan to his blog, with a Jay and Theresa as the White Bishops to appear on Thursday.

On the black side of the board, there's an axe-wielding half-man half-insect beast as the Bishop, female monster with a cobra-like head as the Queen, and a troll-like creature as the Pawn. For the white pieces, Neil is the Queen, Zeus is the King, and a currently unidentified soldier is the Pawn.

Each Thursday entry will contain around five character designs for some of the nameless background characters you often see wandering around during scenes.

Director Brad Goodchild has posted a pair of black chess pieces to match Tuesday's white ones at his blog. It appears that the Black Rook is an evil chameleon of sorts while the Black Knight is a horned centaur.

Mr. Goodchild also confirmed, as we noted yesterday, that the black and white pieces above will appear in The Game Plan (ie. the Christmas episode) while the Cronus and Jay sets from earlier are from Cronus 2.0 as he mentioned in the corresponding entries.

For the pieces from The Game Plan, they will be used in a chess game between Zeus and Cronus. Please check the Season Two news summary to look-up the other plot and character details that have been revealed so far for that episode, and yes, we will try to get it updated this weekend.

As a Tuesday surprise, director Brad Goodchild posted four more images of the heroes as chess pieces to his blog. Check it out for some awesome designs of Odie and Herry as Rooks and Archie and Atlanta as Knights for the white side. These will appear in the Season Two episode titled The Game Plan, better known as the Christmas special (more information here).

According to the entry, more pieces for both side will be posted later. For those of you who are catching-up, you can also view older blog entries containing designs for Cronus and Jay chess pieces, with a possible (but unconfirmed) alternative Cronus as King design here. Fan Hilary's Original Character Gets 'Titanized' at 'Toad's Stool'.

All the way back in December 2006, director Brad Goodchild posted an entry to his blog about how one fan who sent a letter and drawings to the guys at Studio B Production impressed them so much that storyboard supervisor Todd Demong drew and mailed her 'Class of the Titans' original fan character.

A few months later, Mr. Demong has actually posted the drawing and his commentary about this story at his own blog. The character, meant to be a girlfriend for one of the canon characters on the show, is apparently named Hilary like her creator, 'Class of the Titans' fan Hilary. Please read the entry itself for some interesting insight and the image itself.

Please note that the character is NOT appearing in an episode. From both Messrs. Yesterday, Mr. Goodchild posted three new character designs for Jay as various chess pieces (Pawn, King, and Knight) for the Season Two episode titled Cronus 2.0 (more information about the episode itself here). These white pieces are supposed to match the black ones for Cronus, which were posted earlier.

Season One Re-Runs to Return to Teletoon in March 2007.

In continuation of today's updates on Teletoon's March schedules for 'Class of the Titans' as per the new website content, this entry will cover the English channel.

According to a previous correspondence with Teletoon audience relations co-ordinator Julie Benoit, Season One re-runs of the show are currently set to return this March. In checking the new schedule on Teletoon's website, these re-runs will begin on Saturday March 17, 2007 at 2:00PM ET/PT with the Canadian premiere of Episode 1.18: Bows and Eros.

From then on, or at least throughout March 2007, the old 'Class of the Titans' episode will continue to air on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) at 2:00PM ET/PT on both days. As the April 2007 schedules and beyond have not yet been posted, we do not yet know how long these air-times will continue for.

Finally, these are NOT new Season Two episodes, which, at the present time, still seem to be scheduled to premiere in September 2007. Again, the episodes airing on Teletoon in March are Season One re-runs, and are therefore all old episodes, with the exception of the Valentine's Day special kicking-off the return. Thank you.

EDIT (5:10PM): Director Brad Goodchild also confirmed that these March episodes are NOT from Season Two, along with some additions on why this is so and what seems to be a new image of Cronus (if we're mistaken, please let us know).

Télétoon's 'Classe des Titans' Schedule Changes for March 2007.

Both English and French versions of Teletoon's website recently uploaded their March 2007 schedules, so we're going to do a quick two-part update on the two channels' schedule changes for 'Class of the Titans'. We'll start off with Télétoon (ie. French-Canadian Teletoon), which we'll hopefully try to report more often now that we're aware of the two running on different schedules.

At present, Télétoon airs Season One re-runs of 'Classe des Titans' everyday (seven days a week) at 7:30PM. According to the website's schedules, this will continue through the remainder of February 2007 and the first half of March 2007. As the schedule currently stands, Sunday March 11, 2007 will be the LAST day the show will air at its current time.

Starting on Tuesday March 13, 2007, 'Classe des Titans' will only air every Tuesday only at 8:00PM. The schedule says this will be for the rest of March, but since there's no monthly schedule beyond that yet, we do NOT yet know if this trend will continue past March.

Again, the information above ONLY applies to Teletoon's French-Canadian channel. The English channel runs on a different schedule, and we will report on that later today. Thank you.

The Season Two episode titled Nothing to Fear But Fear Itself (ie. the werewolf episode) seems to be director Brad Goodchild's favourite new episode to tease fans about on his blog, and today is no exception.

Check-out a generous set of three teaser stills that apparently appear on a PMR as Odie recalls the story of King Lycaon, who's also now revealed to be yet another new Season Two character. Lycaon (NOT to be confused with another Lycaon from the Trojan War) was a mythical king of Arkadia who had the great honour of hosting the gods as his dinner guests. When he served human flesh to the gods, however, they were disgusted and Zeus punished him by transforming him into a wolf. The three screencaps, in order, depict the transformation, Zeus using his power on Lycaon, and the fully transformed werewolf.

As per usual, we will update the Season Two news summary (and correct the typos on it) once we have access to the computer with the appropriate files again.

The same entry also mentions a possible Wednesday surprise based on something fans have been writing about in the director's blog comments, so stay tuned for that as well.

It has recently come to my attention that a number of 'Class of the Titans' fansites are stealing other people's fanart -- whether from deviantART galleries, the director's blog, or even this newsblog -- and displaying them on their own websites either as their 'own' artwork or free graphics, and so far, always without credit to the original artists.

Art theft is rude and disrespectul, and if you truly admired these artists, you would give them the respect they deserve and, at the very least, ASK for their permission before stealing their work and pretending it's your own or showing it off on your website. 'It was on the Internet and everyone steals!' is NOT an excuse. Neither is claiming that since it was on a blog, it's free to take -- for cases like the director's blog displaying fanart, the artists in-question have usually (but not always, and you should check) given permission for that person alone to put-up the artwork.

Also, I'm going to take this moment to remind fans (because many apparently need this reminder) that official images from the director's blog may NOT be taken and used for anything. Remember what happened last time when a certain fan who will remain nameless thought it would be a great idea to take graphics and put them on her website -- the director's blog was almost shut-down.

I apologize for using the newsblog as a soapbox, but things in this fandom have gone too far and it needs to be addressed. I don't want to have to resort to publishing names and websites again like last time as a way to discourage this kind of stuff, so for some of you out there, please re-consider what you're doing instead of justifying why you're in the right. After exactly one entire month of no updates, we've finally got around to updating the Season Two news summary with all of the latest 'Class of the Titans' second season news between January 16, 2007 to February 16, 2007 (as of around 3:00PM ET/PT, at least). As usual, new additions are written in a bright blue font. Please let us know if we missed anything or made any mistakes.

We're also trying to reform the summary to make it more user-friendly and easier to read. At the moment, we've split the original Characters, Creatures, and Locations section into three parts -- Characters and Creatures, Technology and Vehicles, and Locations -- so that it's less overwhelming to sort through. We're very interested in feedback for other ways to improve it, since it's still very clunky right now.

Finally, some people have been wondering when the main Age of Silicon fansite and information resource will be launched. At present, I'm still waiting to hear back from Studio B Productions about some further possible legal issues, and there's really no rush for in the information at the moment -- it will come when it does, and that's fine by me. Director Brad Goodchild has posted two vehicle designs blog -- one that will appear in Season Two and another that won't, but was designed during pre-production.

The new vehicle design that WILL appear in Season Two -- Episode 2.02 (1.28): Graes Anatomy -- is for a revised Hover Jet, which first appeared in Episode 1.16: Get Kraken. Please read the entry itself for additional commentary from the director, but in short, the new version can fit more than two people and includes a drop-down ramp.

The other vehicle that was designed during pre-production, but will NOT be used in the new season is for an armoured two-part truck appropriately dubbed the Argo. Again, please read the entry itself for some great commentary by the director on the design, and again, the truck will NOT appear in Season Two.

The same entry also mentions that Theresa's sports car, which debuted in Episode 1.02: Chaos 101, Part II, will get an upgrade for Season Two -- a retractable hard roof, which will appear in several episodes according to the Mr. Goodchild's comments.

New 'Class of the Titans' Game on Teletoon's Website.

Just in time to coincide with the face-lift on Teletoon's website is the launch of a new game, in which 'Class of the Titans' is one of three possible themes (along with '6TEEN' and 'DI-GATA Defenders').

The game itself is called Key, and you can access it by clicking on the appropriate image that appears on the homepage of the website. At heart, it's a maze challenge, and you have the option of either playing one of Teletoon's mazes or making your own maze with any one of the three show themes. Jay and Atlanta are the two playable characters this time, though Cronus does make an appearance as the villain for the 'Class of the Titans' theme.

1. When will the Valentine's Day episode, 'Bows and Eros', air on Canada's Teletoon?

This has been, by far, the most popular questions -- the short answer is that it will premiere on March 17, 2007 at 2:00PM ET/PT, though this is subject to change. For full details, along with information about Season One's return to Teletoon's line-up, please read this exclusive coverage of ours.

2. When will Season Two premiere on Canada's Teletoon?

The current official word is that it's scheduled for September 2007, with no specific air-date yet. Please keep in mind that as production continues, that date could tentatively change -- recall, for example, that Season One was originally intended to air in September 2006 rather than December 31, 2006.

3. When will Season Two premiere outside of Canada (eg. Australia)?

No one knows yet -- according to the director, the studio (including himself) do NOT make the decisions on international non-Canadian premieres and schedules. All of that is decided upon by the distributors in the respective countries that wish to air the show, so if you really want to know, you should write to them instead.

Director Brad Goodchild has another surprise posting up on his blog, and there are lots of specials for the price of one entry this time. It's now been revealed that another Season Two episode will be titled Bad Blood and that its plot will involve Autolycus siding with Cronus and helping him defeat the heroes. The entry also contains a partially coloured model sheet for the new character.

For those of you less familiar with mythology, Autolycus was a son of Hermes and aptly became known as the King of Thieves. In most traditions, he is the grandfather of Odysseus (and also named him), taught Heracles how to wrestle, and was one of Jason's Argonauts. The helmet he is wearing on the model sheet may or may not be a reference to the helmet he passes on to his grandson to use in the Trojan War.

It has been brought to my attention that a fan thought it would be appropriate to steal the piece of fanart I drew to use as the newsblog's 'logo' of sorts without my permission and display it on a gallery on her website. Please note that just because the image isn't official studio material doesn't mean it's okay to take the picture and do whatever you like with it.

Thus, I would appreciate that anyone who has done this without asking me (and even worse, without any credit to the original artist) please remove the image from their websites. Director Brad Goodchild has once again posted screencaps a whole day early at his blog, so check it out for some great images from Episode 1.23: Cronus' Flying Circus and be sure to leave your comments at the entry with the title card.

At the same entry is more news about two Season Two episodes. First, after many many months from the original announcement (and one of the first pieces of news about the new season ever), we finally know the title for the episode featuring Adonis (if you don't know much about him, please read our spiel) -- the episode will be titled Face Off, and will probably be recorded next Wednesday. Be sure to leave your guesses at the entry about what the episode may be able (remember that it will feature Neil quite a bit too, according to the original announcement).

Second, the episode that was recorded this week was Daedalus or Alive, with voice actor Michael Dobson playing the role of the unnamed villain. For those unfamiliar with mythology, Daedalus was the famous engineer responsible for designing and building King Minos of Crete's Labyrinth for the Minotaur (and the mechanical bull his wife used to sleep with the Cretan Bull that was the monster's father). Some of you may also recall that he is Icarus' (of 'flying too close to the sun, thus melting the wax of his wings and falling into the sea' fame) father.

EXCLUSIVE: The Tentative Premiere Date for 'Bows and Eros' and the Return of Season One to Canada's Teletoon.

During the last month or so, we've noticed an increase in fans either wondering about when Episode 1.18: Bows and Eros will premiere or when Season One re-runs will return to Canada's Teletoon (website), as well as a few people who claim they have confirmation that the Valentine's Day episode will air on Valentine's Day itself.

Thanks to all of this hoopla, we've e-mailed Teletoon again requesting some additional information about the premiere date and received a wonderful e-mail from Teletoon audience relations co-ordinator Julie Benoit with some details, so many many thanks to her. We've paraphrased and summarized what she told us below, BUT please remember that all of this information is tentative and could possibly change in the future; nothing has been completely finalized yet, so please don't jump to any conclusions just yet.

One of the main beliefs among fans right now is that Episode 1.18: Bows and Eros will premiere during Teletoon's annual Valentine's Day special programming in February 2007. According to Ms. Benoit, there is currently NO confirmation that this will happen, and in fact, it will most likely NOT air then. Again, this could change later, but the prospects right now aren't great. We'll be informed if the episode's premiere does get bumped-up to February.

HOWEVER, do not despair just yet! Season One of 'Class of the Titans' is currently scheduled to return sometime in March 2007. Not only that, but Episode 1.18: Bows and Eros is, at present, set to air around the same time on Saturday March 17, 2007 at 2:00PM ET/PT. Again, this may also change later, but at the moment, it apparently looks fairly set.

So, to summarize -- the Valentine's Day episode will most likely NOT premiere in February 2007, but it will probably be aired for the first time in March 2007 along with the return of Season One re-runs. 'Class of the Titans' to Return to Australia's ABC TV in Mid-2007 with a New Series?

Based on our limited understanding of the air-times schedule for 'Class of the Titans' in Australia, the first season of the show was pulled from the air around the end of 2006 (please correct us if we're wrong) and there's currently no news from ABC TV as to when they will premiere Season Two in the country.

However, during one of our recent Google searches for news, we came across a section of ABC TV's RollerCoaster website for children called Elliot's Blah, in which one of the regular features is Answer My Question. In this feature, visitors can submit questions about the channel's programs and possibly have them answered on the site.

The 'recent' December 18, 2006 edition -- please note that by the time you read this, the link may be for a more recent version -- features the following question and answer that may be of interest to Australian 'Class of the Titans' fans:

What does this mean exactly? From the sounds of it, it seems like Season Two of 'Class of the Titans' will premiere on Australia's ABC TV in mid-2007. HOWEVER, there are also potential problems with this news, as at present, it doesn't seem like Season Two, including the early episodes, will be completed by then.

That said, we are only speculating here -- we're not fully in the know about the show's production and distribution schedule -- so it's quite possible that Australian fans may get a pleasant surprise of a premiere that's earlier than the tentatively scheduled Canadian one in September 2007. Regardless, we'll try to keep you guys posted on it, and we'd definitely appreciate some reliable help from Australian fans too. Thanks!

EDIT (2:48PM): We've talked to 'Class of the Titans' director Brad Goodchild about this bit of news. He has the production schedule for Season Two and can inform us that ABC TV will NOT be showing new Season Two episodes this early. After a long streak of information-based teasers for Season Two, director Brad Goodchild has finally posted more new artwork to his blog. The image posted is a development sketch for the Telkhines' secret underwater lair that will appear in the episode titled Cronus' Keystroke (please see here and here for more information about its plot and characters) and was drawn by location designer Phil Caesar.

It has yet to be painted, but if you're up for offering feedback as requested, please do so at the entry containing the image. Thanks.

I really hate to have to address an issue like this, but this has been a bit of a problem lately. On the one hand, I really do appreciate readers of the newsblog submitting tips about 'Class of the Titans' news they've heard of -- quite a few of our entries were made possible because fans found news-worthy material on various websites or local newspapers that we otherwise wouldn't have been aware of, and for those, we're very grateful and will continue to credit the people who made the submissions.

On the other hand, it seems like every once in awhile, I'll get a tip about something that supposedly comes from a reliable source, and when I ask that source myself, they give me an entirely different answer. Now, it's quite possible that there was just a mistake in interpretation or communication, but I'd personally really appreciate it if people were to double-check what they're submitting. Or, in the worse case scenario, please do NOT make-up news or send me vague rumours -- I double-check everything with sources like people at Studio B Production or Teletoon before posting news, so please don't try to slip-by like that.

Thanks very much. I hope that didn't come off as harsh, but I do want this newsblog to continue as a reliable source of information, so please understand why this has to be the way it is. Thanks again.

'They Might Be G.I. Ants' and the Revealing of More New Season Two Characters at 'Brad's Corner'.

For the usual weekly screencaps bonanza, director Brad Goodchild has posted over images from Episode 1.22: They Might Be G.I. Ants to his blog. As usual, general comments should be left at the entry with the episode's title card.

The same entry also contains an interesting list of mythological figures that will make their debut as guest characters during various Season Two episodes -- Adonis, Nemesis, Envy (Phthonos in ancient Greek), and Scamander. As usual, we'll do a quick mythological rundown of everyone, save for Envy who is self-explanatory.

Adonis was an extremely beautiful mortal youth and the favourite consort of Aphrodite. In some myths, the goddess squabbled with Persephone over the infant, leading to Adonis having to spend part of his time in the Underworld and part of it above. His famous death involved him being killed by a boar that was sent either by a jealous Ares for consorting with Aphrodite or a vengeful Artemis for Aphrodite's role in the death of Theseus' son, Hippolytus, who was one of her favourites.

Interestingly enough, Mr. Goodchild actually made the first announcement about Adonis' debut in Season Two all the way back in early April 2006. We also know that Neil will probably play a substantial role in the episode, given what the director's comments suggest, which is fitting given the Aphrodite connection.

Nemesis is a winged goddess of retribution, particularly of hubris (alternatively spelled as 'hybris' in this context). This would generally be a reference to excessive pride and arrogance, though in Greek mythology, it can also refer to a mortal attempting to equate himself or herself with the gods. The entity of Envy is also, in some cases, tied to the concept of Nemesis.

Fans who are familiar with mythology will probably note right away that Mr. Goodchild did not specify which Scamander would appear in the respective episode. The more well-known of the two is probably more familiarly known as Astyanax, who was the son of the Trojan prince Hector; the boy's father was eventually killed by Achilles, and the baby in turn was flung from the walls of Troy to his death by Achilles' son, Neoptolemus (also known as Pyrrhus).

However, given Mr. Goodchild's comments about Scamander being an interesting character to animate, we at the newsblog think that it's actually a reference to the eponymous river god or personification of the Scamander River in the Troad, the region in Asia Minor which Troy is located. In 'The Iliad', Scamander rebukes Achilles for filling his waters with corpses and attempts to drown him until Hera sends Hephaestus to intervene by attempting to dry-up the river with his fire until the goddess stops him.

As a special surprise, director Brad Goodchild has posted pencil lineart of the designs for Herry and Archie's bedrooms to his blog. According to the entry the images are posted in, the backgrounds will unfortunately not be used for any of the Season Two episodes, hence why they haven't been painted in full-colour like some of the others were.

If you're interested in viewing the background artwork for the other kids' rooms, try searching through the archives for the director's blog, or run a search for 'bedroom' using the search toolbar at the top of the newsblog, which will hopefully produce the original entries that link to the lineart posts.

After a long hiatus from posting new Season Two artwork, director Brad Goodchild has finally posted some new background artwork, done by layout designer Rick Allen and background colourist Michael Hitchcox, to his blog. Both pieces are designs for Athena's armoury in a secret area of the dorms and will appear in the Season Two episode titled Tantalize This (more information here). Fans of ancient Greek archaeology should have fun identifying references to actual artwork in the pictures.

As per usual, this information will eventually be added to the Season Two news summary, which we're still in the process of updating right now. Please keep checking the page itself to see when the new material is available.

Plot and Casting News for a Season Two Episode at 'Brad's Corner'.

Last Friday, director Brad Goodchild made a post to his blog stating that this week's recorded Season Two episode is titled Cronus' Keystroke and will feature the Telkhines (more information here) and the return of Poseidon as parts of the plot. Today, he's announced much more information about the episode in terms of plot and casting.

In terms of casting -- voice actor French Tickner will be returning to his role as Poseidon, which he last performed in Episode 1.16: Get Kraken last season. Voice actor William Samples, who seems to be also voicing Tantalus in Tantalize This (see our news entry or the original director's comments on it) plays one of the Telkhines, with voice actor David Kaye (Cronus) in the role of another.

On the plot front -- there are four Telkhines, whom Cronus frees (in mythology, they were imprisoned in the sea or Tartarus by Zeus himself) so that they may help him steal Theresa's pendant key. Obtaining a pendant would mean that Cronus would be able to enter the secret wing of Olympus High School and therefore defeat the gods and kids, but that's all we're going to be told about for now.

Of course, this stuff will eventually be on the Season Two news summary. We did manage to fix our technical problems, but the editor's currently re-settling into classes (including an excellent one on Greek and Roman epic poetry) and won't have time to do a full update until later this week. Thanks for your patience once again.

Also, we've decided not to continue reporting when fanart is posted to the director's blog, as there's so much of it everyday now that we'd get overwhelmed very quickly. Instead, we're going to focus on isolating the more news-related stuff from the blog so that fans who are only interested in things like Season Two news will have an easier time of accessing that information. Thanks for understanding, and fan-artists, please don't take this as a slight against your skill and talent.

'Class of the Titans' to be Off-Air on Teletoon Indefinitely.

A number of fans have been asking if 'Class of the Titans' will be returning to Canada's Teletoon in February 2007, or even going so far as to claim it will without evidence. We at the newsblog recently e-mailed representatives at the channel itself through their website regarding when the show will return, as well as the air-date for the premiere of Episode 1.18: Bows and Eros that has been rumoured to take place next month.

The following is an excerpt from the response we received from Teletoon audience relations co-ordinator Daniel Charbonneau:

Class of the Titans will be taking a short break from the TELETOON schedule for a little while, and unfortunately I have no further information to share at this time. In order to keep TELETOON new and fresh for our viewers, we like to give our schedule a "makeover" a few times a year. As a result, some of your favourite shows move spots in order to make room for new shows or seasonal specials.

This e-mail seems to imply that 'Class of the Titans' will most likely NOT be returning in February, and there's still no word on the air-date for the Season One Valentine's Day special.

Please also note that we here at the newsblog will absolutely NOT tolerate fans who decide to act on this e-mail by flaming Teletoon, and we, in fact, condemn such stupid behaviour. Thanks for reading, and we'll try to keep everyone up-to-date if more relevant information comes-up.

Teletoon's 'Class of the Titans' Page is Still Accessible.

We had reported earlier that Canada's Teletoon had removed their 'Class of the Titans' page from their website, but thanks to a tip from fan gibly, it seems like fans can still take a look at the page, though the process is a little more difficult than usual.

First, after entering the main site, click on 'World' in the upper-right corner. Then, on the page with the neighbourhoods, select 'The Spot'. From there, have your avatar enter City Hall. The 'Class of the Titans' characters accompanying Mayor Theresa change each time you enter, and in order to see the show's page, you must click on either Neil or Jay and select 'OK' in their speech bubbles. If neither character is there, exit City Hall and re-enter it, and if they still aren't there, keep doing this until they appear.

First off, director Brad Goodchild has posted two more pieces of fanart to his blog, this time from fan princesspeach45.

Second, screencaps for Episode 1.20: Many Happy Returns are now up. To leave a general comment, please post your feedback at the entry with the episode's title card, as per usual. The same entry also has some interesting insights and thoughts from Mr. Goodchild about the episode's story and how it came to fruition.

Third, and certainly not least, there's more leaked information about another Season Two episode. Next Wednesday will be the recording date for Cronus' Keystroke, which will feature a return by Poseidon and the debut of the Telkhines.

Now, we at the newsblog were actually, for once, stumped by this obscure mythological reference, so we had to look-up additional background information at the wonderful Theoi Project site. According to the site's entry for the creatures, the Telkhines are sea spirits who invented the art of metal-working and, in some stories, forged Cronus' sickle and Poseidon's trident. They also possibly found themselves in Zeus' disfavour and were thrown into Tartarus. Of course, the creatures on the show may look different from this physical description -- recall that the show's Scylla did not have dog-heads extending from a woman's torso -- so you may not want to jump to conclusions about the character design based on this.

As usual, we will try to get this information up on the Season Two news summary as soon as we can. Director Brad Goodchild has continued posting more fanart at his blog by displaying two amazing pieces by fan Eye of Horus. Check it out, and be sure to leave your comments.

At the same entry is additional information on Season Two's progress and the episode known as Like a Rolling Stone, which was recorded today and announced yesterday. As we speculated, the title is now confirmed as being a reference to the mythological character of Sisyphus.

Mr. Goodchild also mentions that the episode is the 45th one recorded; as Season Two will have 26 episodes, this would make for a combined total of 52 episodes so far. Thus, at this point in time, only seven episodes have yet to be have their voicework recorded.

As our first post for the new year of 2007 -- director Brad Goodchild is back and posting once again at his blog after a well-deserved holiday. The latest entry features a nice pencil drawing of Jay from fan Hali Wu, and Mr. Goodchild also mentions receiving other fanart that will be displayed soon.

On the Season Two front -- tomorrow seems to be the recording session date for the episode titled Like a Rolling Stone. Mr. Goodchild has left the meaning of the title open at his blog, and if you do NOT want to know about it, please STOP reading this entry right NOW before the next paragraph.

The title is a reference to the myth of Sisyphus. King Sisyphus was a trickster who committed a number of indecent acts, including violating the the sacred rule of xenia (ie. protection of travelers), betraying the gods' secrets, and imprisoning Thanatos (essentially death personified). As punishment, he was doomed in the Underworld to forever roll a giant boulder up a steep hill, only for it to roll back down just before he reached the top and therefore forcing him to start the task over and over again. He also may or may not be Odysseus' real father -- rather than Laertes -- via a rape.

Happy New Year and One-Year Anniversary of 'Class of the Titans'.

First off, we hope everyone reading this (or not) is having an excellent New Year's Eve so far. That said, today is also the first anniversary of the premiere of 'Class of the Titans' for the first time internationally, specifically on Canada's Teletoon back on December 31, 2005.

It's been a whole year and a lot of exciting things have happened in the fandom already -- highlights include the entire run of Season One; lots of news regarding the upcoming Season Two; the show being aired not only in Canada, but also Mexico, Australia, Singapore, France, South Africa, etc.; director Brad Goodchild running his popular blog, as well as a number of other crew members doing the same, of course; and so much more than we can't cover in a short post like this right now.

All in all -- many thanks to everyone, from those who worked on the show to the fans, for an awesome first year for 'Class of the Titans'. Here's to hoping that 2007, which also marks the premiere of Season Two in Canada, will be a good year as well. Happy New Year!

REMINDER: The 'Chaos Trilogy' to Re-Air on Teletoon Next Week.

As reported earlier, the 'Class of the Titans' December and January hiatus on Canada's Teletoon will be interrupted briefly next Thursday for the channel's CINETOON Blizzard special, which you may have recently seen an ad (featuring Theresa) for on their website.

The 'Chaos Trilogy', or Episodes 1.01-1.03: Chaos 101, will be re-airing on Teletoon as a special movie presentation next Thursday January 4, 2007 from 12:00PM to 1:30PM. This will also be the only showing of 'Class of the Titans' for January (ie. no more re-runs for the month), and the February schedule is still not yet available.

We'll post another reminder about the special re-airing next week the day before it occurs, just in case anyone forgot.

There's also another piece of special holiday artwork, celebrating not only the winter holidays, but the first anniversary of the show. If you recall, 'Class of the Titans' premiered on Canada's Teletoon on December 31, 2005, and has it ever been an interesting year.
Last week, fans got a small teaser about Season Two having a Christmas episode. We now know that it will be called The Game Plan and the voice recording for it will be done today. Plot-wise, we will see how Cronus likes to spend the holidays, and Amalthea will make an appearance. For those unfamiliar with the character of Amalthea, she is usually portrayed as the goat that suckled Zeus as a baby when his mother, Rhea, hid him from Cronus on the island of Crete. One of her horns became the Cornucopia (the 'horn of plenty' you're probably familiar with and associate with Thanksgiving) and her hide became Zeus and eventually Athena's aegis.

Also, there's a notice here mentioning that if you're wondering about why Teletoon isn't showing 'Class of the Titans' for the next while, please read through the newsblog for information about it rather than directing questions to the director's blog. As a bit of an early holiday surprise, nine screencaps from the pre-opening titles scene of Episode 1.18: Bows and Eros were posted on Tuesday. On the exciting Season Two side of things, the blog has the following goodies:

A bit of a plot teaser for Cronus 2.0, last mentioned here -- due to Jay's concern about being able to anticipate Cronus' activities, Hephaestus and Odie create a robot version of Cronus that thinks the way he does.
A fan asked about how Cronus' time portals work, specifically regarding what would happen if someone were to follow Cronus through one. Mr. Goodchild posted the answer along with a teaser that we'll see such a situation in Graes Anatomy.
Season Two will have a Christmas episode which will, quote, 'definitely give a new meaning to the [h]oliday spirit!' This could be quite interesting as it's been postulated that Christmas was based on the Roman holiday of Saturnalia, which was a harvest festival honouring Saturn and the Golden Age of Man he ruled over. Saturn, for the record, is the Roman counterpart of the Greeks' Cronus.
