Season One Finale Air-Date for Australia's ABC2 Announced.

Last week, we announced that Australia's ABC TV would be airing Episode 1.26: Time After Time -- the Season One finale for 'Class of the Titans' -- on October 11, 2006 at 4:59PM.

At the same time, we noted that the episode's subsequent air time on ABC2 hasn't been posted yet and that we'd edit the original entry when that information did go up. As it's now been a week, we are posting the information now instead.

So, if you cannot watch the first Australian airing of the season finale, you can catch it again on ABC2 on Wednesday October 18, 2006 at 6:00PM.

New Music at the 'Class of the Titans' Music MySpace.

As mentioned in director Brad Goodchild's blog (along with a snazzy announcement banner), composer Michael Richard Plowman has uploaded three new music files to the show's music MySpace. This week's update -- no word yet on whether these will occur every Friday as before the hiatus -- includes tunes titled 'The Nature of Things' (ie. Pan's trance music), 'Odie the Hero', and 'Kronus Part 2' (please note that it's a perfectly valid alternate spelling of 'Cronus').

As per usual, the main theme is always available for listening, and the three formerly new pieces have since been taken down.

At present, none of music is available for downloading anymore. This may or may not be a new policy for the account, or it could be a MySpace-wide glitch at the moment.

Season Two Sneak-Peek Storyboards and Other Fun Things at 'Brad's Corner'.

THIS ENTRY AND ITS RELEVANT LINKS CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR SEASON TWO OF 'CLASS OF THE TITANS'. IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE SPOILED, THEN PLEASE DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER OR CLICK ON ANY LINKS. THANK YOU.

The next installment of Screencap Fridays at director Brad Goodchild's blog have been postponed until next week, and instead, he's posted some surprises from the show's second season. Spread out over three blog entries are eleven action sequence storyboards (see the last number in the files' names to figure-out the order) drawn by storyboard supervisor Todd Demong for Graes Anatomy.

As reported earlier, the episode was the second Season Two episode recorded and had its animatics (eg. storyboard shots) finished in mid-September.

Also revealed in the main storyboard entry are two new pieces of information about the episode -- first is that a new creature referred to as a 'giant sand scorpion' will be introduced and battle Atlanta and Theresa (as the images clearly show), and second is that the show will have a bit of an anime-like style to it. As usual, we will update our affiliated Season Two summary soon with this new information.

On the fun side of things, Mr. Goodchild has also posted a file of the crew's workstation sign for fans to look at or even print-out if they so wish. For more information about it and the studio environment, please read Mr. Goodchild's own insights at the entry.

Season Two Painted Backgrounds and Other Fun Stuff at 'Brad's Corner'.

THIS ENTRY AND ITS LINKS CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR SEASON TWO OF 'CLASS OF THE TITANS'. IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE SPOILED, THEN PLEASE DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER OR CLICK ON ANY LINKS. THANK YOU.

The new posting schedule for director Brad Goodchild's blog seems to involve posting random material at random times, and to begin, he's updated with some very exclusive Season Two background paintings.

Background colourist Michael Hitchcock, who also did similiar work on Season One of 'Class of the Titans', painted the three pieces posted at the blog. One image is a painted full-colour version of the new establishing shot of Olympus High School for Season Two, for which Mr. Goodchild originally posted the black-and-white lineart of during the summer. The other two images are of Hades' palace, which is a new location for the second season. At present, Mr. Goodchild hasn't revealed which episode(s) it will appear in yet.

As usual, we will update our newsblog-affiliated Season Two news summary shortly to reflect the new information and post links to the relevant blog entries.

At another entry today is a pair of fun photographs of Mr. Goodchild's car with what looks like the 'Class of the Titans' logo digitally superimposed on the door, as it were a car decal. As always, if you like what you see, please leave some a thoughtful comment or two at the relevant entries.

Rugby and Aussie Rules Football Series Composite at 'Brad's Corner'.

As promised last Friday, director Brad Goodchild has posted the composite image of all eight character models (ie. the kids and Cronus) from his Rugby and Aussie Rules Football artwork series to his blog as of today. To view each character seperately, you'll have to search through the blog's archives for the original images.

As usual, if you like what you see, please leave an intelligent comment at the entry.

Season One Finale to Air in Australia on October 11, 2006.

As per the regular weekly schedule that Australia's ABC TV has been great with following so far, Episode 1.26: Time After Time -- the Season One finale for 'Class of the Titans' -- will finally air there on October 11, 2006 at 4:59PM.

The guide has not yet been updated to list when the episode will be repeated on ABC2, but when that information is up, we will edit this entry to announce the air-date and time.

EDIT (October 9; 4:20PM): As people have probably noticed from looking at their calendars, the guide originally made a mistake of posting the air-date as October 11, 2006. The correct date, which is also on the site, is October 10, 2006. We apologize for any inconveniences.

Top Draw Animation's Official Website is Now Online, with TONS of New 'Class of the Titans' Content and News.

Top Draw Animation -- the animation studio in the Philippines that collaborates with Canada's Studio B Productions (official website here) to animate 'Class of the Titans' -- has finally launched their official website.

A quick exploration of the site reveals TONS of new 'Class of the Titans' content -- especially gorgeous artwork -- that should make fans of the show very happy:

  • Information about the show's second season can be found under In-Production. 'Class of the Titans' is categorized under Coming Attractions using an icon with new artwork most fans have probably never seen before. Clicking on the icon reveals various statistics and information about the show, with the most interesting being that Top Draw Animation will start their part of production on October 16, 2006 and end on October 24, 2007.

  • Clicking on the icon mentioned above also reveals a new piece of composite artwork with coloured versions of the heroes as drawn by Season One senior character designer Kenny Park and for which pencil drawings were originally posted by director Brad Goodchild on his blog over the summer.

  • Clicking on From the Top and then the image displayed for 2005 will reveal what is probably the most gorgeous piece of 'Class of the Titans' artwork -- the image itself is a beautifully drawn and coloured composite of the studio's projects from 2005, with 'Class of the Titans' taking centre-stage in the piece. The cartoon's part of the image has the seven heroes striking heroic poses on an island in the clouds, with the Typhoeus, Scylla, a Minotaur-clone, and a giant snake surrounding them. Also included is a ghostly green image of Cronus in the night-sky with images of Atalanta, Jason, and Narcissus as constellations against a sunset, but you have to see the artwork for yourself to witness how amazing it is.

  • Under Newsletter are two brief publications from April 2006 and July 2006, both of which contain some 'Class of the Titans' content. The April 2006 edition features two blurbs about the show (note that they make the mistake of referring to Achilles as Archimedes and refer to the kids as Titans, which was changed during Season One's production), plus two new images -- one is the full image from the icon under In-Production mentioned earlier, and the other is a new special image that seems to depict the kids in the Philippines. The July 2006 newsletter simply has the same composite artwork from the Coming Attractions section.

  • Also in the April 2006 newsletter is news that the show had been sold to Philippines' GMA-7 for distribution and may be debuting there in the Tagalog language in mid-2006. A quick search of the channel's website, however, doesn't seem to show signs of the show being aired, but admittedly, we don't know much about that. If you do know more and/or from the Philippines, we appreciate you giving us a shout at age.of.silicon@gmail.com. Thanks.

That's all there is for now, but for a new website, it's certainly a lot of new amazing content. Go check it out and be sure to visit regularly as the site grows, and as mentioned before, if you are a fan from the Philippines and can tell us more about the show there, please let us know.

'Class of the Titans' Now Airing in South Africa.

A very random Google-crawl for news has revealed a rather interesting international discovery -- 'Class of the Titans' is now airing in South Africa on the M-Net Domestic channel (official website here).

A search of the site's Google cache uncovered M-Net Domestic TV listings for Tuesday September 12, 2006 that had 'Class of the Titans' listed. A further search with the Daily Dispatch (a South African newspaper), however, revealed that the show most likely premiered in South Africa on Tuesday September 5, 2006, with that date being the earliest one the cartoon was scheduled for found so far.

So for those of you in South Africa, 'Class of the Titans' apparently airs once a week on Tuesdays on M-Net Domestic at 4:33PM or 4:30PM according to M-Net and the Daily Dispatch's websites respectively.

The 'Class of the Titans' Music MySpace is Back!

Those of you who are especially observant may have noticed something new-ish on the sidebar of director Brad Goodchild's blog -- it seems like the 'Class of the Titans' MySpace run by composer Michael Richard Plowman is back online.

For those of you unfamiliar with the site, Mr. Plowman started the account over the summer as a way of making the show's score available to fans and the general public for listening and downloading. Sometime in late August and early September, the account apparently ran into some problems with MySpace that led to it shutting-down for about a month. The account is now up-and-running again, though there's no official news yet on why it's back and for how long.

At present, there isn't any new music on top of the last three selections that were posted before the account went offline temporarily. No information in the account has been lost, so if you had it listed as a friend or posted a comment, it's all still there.

'Episode 1.09: Sibling Rivalry' Screencaps and Aussie Rules Football Artwork at 'Brad's Corner'.

First off, director Brad Goodchild has finally posted the last image from his Rugby and Aussie Rules Football series -- this time of Neil -- to his blog. The entry also reports that a composite of every model from the series will be posted sometime next week.

On the more regular side of things, screencaps for Episode 1.09: Sibling Rivalry were posted today as part of the regular Friday update. The entry with the episode's title card also notes that Friday screencap updates will only be every other week from now on, with the next update -- almost certainly of Episode 1.10: Mazed and Confused -- being on October 6, 2006 two weeks from now.

Season Two Information Summary Now Online at 'Age of Silicon'.

While the newsblog's sister fansite and information resource, Age of Silicon is still currently in-progress and reviewing possible legal and copyright issues that may arise, one signifcant part of the site is now available early online.

For those who are new to the fandom for 'Class of the Titans', director Brad Goodchild, among others at Studio B and the animation industry, have been carefully revealing information about Season Two since back in May 2006, if not earlier. Over the last few months, we have been compiling all of this public information into one resource, complete with the original links to blog entries and message board postings verifying the reports.

So -- if you ever wanted to know all of the publically released information about Season Two that has been disclosed for the last four or five months, the upcoming fansite's Season Two information summary is now up-and-running. It will, of course, be updated regularly as we know more. Please note that the page will obviously contain spoilers for the show's second season.

Another Season Two Episode Title Revealed and Sources of Character Inspirations at 'Brad's Corner'.

THIS ENTRY CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR SEASON TWO OF 'CLASS OF THE TITANS'. IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE SPOILED, THEN PLEASE DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER. THANK YOU.

Though Tuesday is not usually a regular posting day at the blog, director Brad Goodchild has posted several items of note today. First off are pages of artwork from Roger Lancelyn Green's 'Tales of Greeks and Trojans' -- the show's character designs for Achilles and Theseus, drawn by Season One senior character designer Kenny Park, were heavily influenced by the book's versions of the heroes, as evident in the artwork posted. Also at the entry is more information from Mr. Goodchild himself about the book itself and others, especially the artists.

The second major item of note is that another Season Two episode title and, by proxy, character has been revealed -- the episode that will be voice-recorded this Wednesday is titled Tantalize This (we are no longer matching episode numbers with the titles, as Teletoon will change them). Given the title, it is safe to say that the mythological character of Tantalus will be introduced, though we do not yet know how much of his story and related characters will be included.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the myth, which is admittedly a more obscure one -- Tantalus was the kind of Sipylus and father of Pelops, the latter of whom gave his name to the southern area of Greece known as the Peloponnesus. Tantalus is also an ancestor of Agamemnon and Menelaus, for those of you who are more Trojan Saga-inclined. He's also where we get our word 'tantalize' from, hence the title -- as punishment from the gods for feeding his son, Pelops, to them, he was doomed to be forever hungry and thirsty (ie. tantalized) in the Underworld.

More Rugby and Aussie Rules Football Artwork and an Update on Screencap Fridays at 'Brad's Corner'.

As a Monday special, director Brad Goodchild has posted two more works from the Rugby and Aussie Rules Football series to his blog -- the first is the coloured artwork of Herry in-uniform, and the other is a composite of the Cronus image from last week with models of the classical Minotaur, Spartoi Warriors, and a zombie, all superimposed on the Amazon battlefield background.

There is also a notice on the blog confirming that Friday screencap postings are returning this week with screencaps for Episode 1.09: Sibling Rivalry. As per fan feedback, Episode 1.08: See You at the Crossroads will be skipped over for now until the episode finally airs on Canada's Teletoon on Sunday October 22, 2006 at 6:30PM ET/PT.

'Class of the Titans' Wins One Canadian Award for the Electronic and Animated Arts.

Back in August, we reported that 'Class of the Titans' had been nominated in four categories for the first annual Canadian Awards for the Electronic and Animated Arts (official website here). The awards ceremony itself, in which the winners were announced, took place yesterday on Thursday September 14, 2006 at the River Rock Show Theatre in Richmond, British Columbia.

While the CAEAA itself has not officially announced the winners in a press release yet, director Brad Goodchild has posted an announcement to his blog, revealing that Episode 1.14: Make-Up Exam won the Best Storyboarding category for Final Animation. Storyboard artists Todd Demong and Chez Battista were the crew members responsible for storyboarding the episode, and as Mr. Goodchild encouraged, feel free to offer your congrats to Mr. Demong especially at his blog.

Congratulations all-around!

More Rugby and Aussie Rules Football Artwork at 'Brad's Corner'.

As an extra treat, director Brad Goodchild has posted an image of Cronus for his Rugby and Aussie Rules Football series. Unlike the pieces for the main kids, this piece uses stock background artwork from the show rather than an image of Australia's flag.

The entry also notes again that Herry and Neil's coloured images in the series will be posted soon.

Wednesday, September 13, 2006

The Original-Original Series Bible, More Rugby Art, and More at 'Brad's Corner'.

Though the blog is technically still on hiatus right now, director Brad Goodchild has posted a variety of new and unique material to his blog, including the following:

  • Jay's image for the Rugby and Aussie Rules Football artwork series. The entry also notes that coloured versions of Herry and Neil are coming up, in addition to other information about the series.

  • Very old character designs and pages from an earlier version of the Original Series Bible, including the original model for Odie and a character named Trent, who was the original male descendent of Theseus before Theresa was added as a second female character. Those images can be viewed here and here.

  • More information about the eventual full return of the blog, along with some minor Season Two news and a small teaser about possible surprise postings. Also, it's up to fans to vote on whether screenshots from Episode 1.08: See You at the Crossroads will be posted next, so let Mr. Goodchild whether you want to see them or not here.

So, enjoy the special updates and remember to vote for the screencaps!

Tentative Return of 'Brad's Corner' in October 2006?

Yesterday, director 'Class of the Titans' director Brad Goodchild posted a notice stating that there won't be any new posts to his blog over the next while as he continues working on Season Two of the show and other unspecified projects. Please read the entry itself for more information.

At the time, there was no information given on when updates will resume, but we currently have word from Mr. Goodchild himself now that it's possible (but NOT absolutely confirmed yet) that blog updates will resume sometime in October 2006 next month. If so, posts will most likely occur once a week on Fridays with episode screencaps.

Again, this information is tentative and subject to change, so please do not assume that any aforementioned details are definite yet.

'Brad's Corner' Currently Going on Hiatus.

Instead of new material today, director Brad Goodchild has posted a notice to his blog stating 'Brad's Corner' will be going on a hiatus, thus meaning that there will be no more new postings for the next while. Please read the entry itself for more information.

At this point, there is no word on when the updates will resume again. Old material will also continue to remain in the blog's archives for the duration, at least at this point in time.

New 'Class of the Titans' Character for Teletoon.com's 'The Burn'.

Back in July 2006, Teletoon began a feature on their website called The Burn, which can be accessed by clicking on 'Win' on the navigation bar, then the relevant button. One part of the feature is a poll seeing which Teletoon character of four has the most popular 'burn style' (eg. physical excercise and movement).

During the summer, Atlanta was the featured character for 'Class of the Titans', with her clip being from Episode 1.01: Chaos 101. Last we checked, she placed second to Jude from '6teen'.

This month, all four summer characters have been replaced with a new set -- for 'Class of the Titans', Jay has now taken Atlanta's spot, and his clip is from Episode 1.06: Trojan Horse. At present, he is currently leading in the poll by a large margin.

So, if Teletoon.com is your thing, check it out, watch the clips, and vote in the poll. Please remember that it's just for fun and shouldn't be taken too seriously.

'Episode 1.07: Antikythera Device' Screencaps at 'Brad's Corner'.

For this week's Friday update, director Brad Goodchild has posted a number of screencaps from Episode 1.07: Antikythera Device at his blog. As always, please leave an intelligent comment if you like what you see.

For those of you who are interested in the animation industry and Mr. Goodchild's background, he's also written some information about his own education and his thoughts on animation here.

Please note that at present, we currently have extremely limited internet access, hence why news is currently being blogged later and less frequently. We hope to have this problem solved sometime during this upcoming week.

Transportation Colour Model Sheets and Season Two Casting News at 'Brad's Corner'.

THIS ENTRY CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR SEASON TWO OF 'CLASS OF THE TITANS'. IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE SPOILED, THEN PLEASE DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER. THANK YOU.

For this week's Wednesday posting of prop model sheets, director Brad Goodchild has posted several full-colour sheets of the difference vehicles and methods of transportation from the show at this blog, including an item from Episode 1.18: Bows and Eros which may be unfamiliar for Canadian fans.

Also at the blog is a bit of casting news for Season Two -- voice actor Maxine Miller will be playing Demeter in Episode 2.10: A Cold Day in Hades, which was recorded today. If the name isn't familiar, Ms. Miller also voiced Pleione (Atlas's wife) and Stheno (one of Medusa's Gorgon sisters) in Season One. Please also read the entry at the link for more of Mr. Goodchild's comments about her performance and the episode itself.

More Pre-Colour Background Lineart and Season Two News at 'Brad's Corner'.

THIS ENTRY CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR SEASON TWO OF 'CLASS OF THE TITANS'. IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE SPOILED, THEN PLEASE DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER. THANK YOU.

Since Monday was the Labour Day holiday in Canada, director Brad Goodchild has posted pre-colour background lineart today at his blog. Check-out the latest entries to see assorted interior artwork for Cronus' cell in Tartarus, Herry's truck, and many parts of both the Brownstone and Olympus High School, including the kitchen and cafeteria respectively.

Today's update also includes a teaser for the Season Two episode that is being recorded this week -- the episode is titled Episode 2.10: A Cold Day in Hades (not taking into account that Teletoon will re-arrange the episode order) and will feature Demeter, goddess of grain and the harvest, apparently freezing the world when her daughter, Persephone, goes missing. Read the director's own words about it at the link above.

'Q&A with Director Brad Goodchild' -- Round VIII.

'Class of the Titans' director Brad Goodchild is open to fans asking him intelligent questions about the show and the animation process. His answers are posted here on the newsblog as the 'Q&A with Director Brad Goodchild' feature, with the only changes to his original comments being minor technical corrections. These fan-questions, however, are filtered through a system so that he can devote his limited time to answering the most reasonable questions that will also appeal to as many fans as possible.

For more information about the current system, please read this post. If you are interested in submitting a question for Mr. Goodchild, please see this entry and follow the rules and instructions outlined there.

We also ask that you please do not re-post these questions and answers on your own personal website, unless you run the FAQ, the newsblog's accompanying fansite, or the director's blog. You are, however, more than welcome to provide a link to the entries. Thank you.

Q: How much research does it take to find all the details you might use for the myths you put into the episodes? How do you even go around deciding what myth to use in the first place, and which research sources does the crew use?

A: We use lots of research to find details. We try and find interesting bits of mythology to write about. We tend to shy away from the more well known myths, as they have all been done before and we want to have more of an open book and give the stories or characters our own Titan Twist. We try a small bit of a story that might be cool and build around that. Sometimes it works and some no. Also, the idea has to have enough 'Stakes' to warrant a full episode and that we can get an A story as well as a B or C story as well. If you notice, there are sometimes 2 or 3 storylines going on at the same time and finally all tie up at end.

Also, we really like to involve where Greek words come from ... try and teach a bit along the way (eg. the Pan story). A lot of words from Greek origins.

We tend to use Theoi Project and Godchecker as sources for inspiration and reference
.

'Episode 1.06: Trojan Horse' Screencaps and Minor Season Two News at 'Brad's Corner'.

THIS ENTRY CONTAINS TWO MINOR SPOILERS FOR SEASON TWO OF 'CLASS OF THE TITANS'. IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE SPOILED, THEN PLEASE DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER. THANK YOU.

For this week's Friday update, director Brad Goodchild has posted sixty-six screencaps from Episode 1.06: Trojan Horse to his blog. As always, if you like what you see, please leave an intelligent comment about them.

At the same blog entry linked above is one minor bit of Season Two news -- the mountain realm of the griffins seen at the beginning of Episode 1.06: Trojan Horse will apparently be revisited in Episode 2.04: Star Quality, keeping in mind that the episode number may be different in the final line-up. As reported earlier, that episode is also the one that features Orion the Hunter as a guest star.

Another small teaser for Season Two concerns a new gadget that will be introduced. According to Mr. Goodchild, Odie will have a special Palm Pilot that will debut in a new episodes. The item, which has a model sheet available for viewing here, was apparently originally for a Season One episode before it was removed.

'Class of the Titans' MySpace Goes Offline Again.

'Class of the Titans' composer Michael Richard Plowman has left a notice stating that the new MySpace account for the show had to be taken down again. Please read his post for more information.
